thanks julez i need to get some oil na try nyo na ba yng amsoil? its pretty good stuff first thing i noticed is that the engine quieted down a bit on idle i ordered a case and this is the stuff ill be using from now on...

+1 yup yup, I agree with Jon Ive been using Mobil 1 15W-50 for track use and Mobil 1 10W-40 for street use, both Full Synthetic and both are Car Oil. Ive had NOOOOOOOOOOOO problems whatsoever ;D

+1 yup yup, I agree with Jon Ive been using Mobil 1 15W-50 for track use and Mobil 1 10W-40 for street use, both Full Synthetic and both are Car Oil. Ive had NOOOOOOOOOOOO problems whatsoever ;D I agree as well. We can never tell how much wear and tear happens inside, any oil can be use being it full syn of course just its a matter of the long run life. But I only went with this oil cause its $9 per quart and it made the engine run quieter and shift smoother..

I thought you're only supposed to use the non-energy conserving oil. There are only a few car oils that are ok to use in motorcycles. One of them being Mobil 1 15w-50 but it has to be the correct one i.e. the plastic bottles WITHOUT the Energy Conserving Symbol. Shell Rotella T synthetic is another good one...but I've used pretty much all types of oil like Jon, from Motul all the way down to AmsOil. I'm only on Mobil 1 now because I purchased a few boxes over the summer when the girl ringing up the box only charged me $8 for the whole box instead of $8 per quart of oil in the box. The whole box would have cost around $40 but she only charged $8, so I grabbed a few more boxes! It's the Pep Boys off Mission in Escondido. ;D The reason the "energy conserving" oils won't work with a bike is because in a car, the clutch is not bathed in oil like on all bikes (aside from Ducati/Aprilias with the rattling dry clutch). The clutch depends on a certain coefficient of friction range to work properly to engage and disengage at reliable points of contact upon the clutch lever's travel. ** Energy Conserving oils contain additives that lower the coefficient of friction enough to where the clutch will slip excessively, sometimes even after you let the clutch out all the way, or in extreme cases, you may even need new friction plates.**On a side note, seasoned WSMC and WERA racers that I've asked regarding this matter have in fact used oil that say Energy Conserving. They've never had issues on their clutch slipping they said. I dont know what else to say about the Energy Conserving topic except I still wont use Energy Conserving Oils. The easy way out when deciding which oil to get for your bike - get motorcycle specific oil if you're afraid of using car oil in your bike. After that, all you have to decide then is which Brand you feel you will be most comfortable with or how much you are willing to pay. It comes to personal preference at this point.
