Due to the large number of riders attending this ride we will be leaving from the Del Lago Park and Ride which is about 700ft North of the Del Lago Shell Station behind McDonalds. This will not be a squid ride or knee dragin event. There will most likely be way too many riders for that kind of riding. This will be a ride YOUR OWN SAFE SPEED ride, generally not exceeding 65mph. We will stop and re-group at all road changes so we will not lose anybody. There is no reason to push hard to keep up as we much rather wait for you than wait for the paramedics. Most likely someone will volunteer to ride sweep. We will attempt to line up in groups and in order of experience level and expected ride speed. Passing will be permitted with the acknowledgment of the passee. Following distance between riders should be a min. of 100ft. There will be a short Riders Meeting at 9:30am and we will then divide into groups and leave promptly after the meeting. There will be no limit on the number of riders on this one, but depending on the number of riders attending, we most likely will be dividing up into some number of smaller sub groups based on riding experience level at the start. This is not a status thing so please do not be guided by ego. The attempt here is to have all riders in all groups riding below 70% of their capabilities. This way even though some groups will actually be riding faster than others, all groups and group members will be riding at a safe pace for their skills and equipment. It's not a question of just being able to keep up with your group. It's a matter of keeping up with your group without riding anywhere near your limit and your bikes limits. The last few times we did this ride there were between 80 and 100 riders. We have not been able to get through this ride yet without at least 1 bike going down during the ride. Hopefully, this will be the 1st time, but it will only happen if each of us to rides withing our own capabilities and comfort level. Full body protection is highly recommended for all and required to ride in Group 1 or Group 2. General Route: Highland Valley Road to 67/78 Old Julian Highway Wynola Road Banner Grade Yaqui Pass Lunch in Borrego Springs Jilberto's Taco Shop (or anywhere else you want to eat) Up Montezuma Grade to S2 to 79 Link to Ride MAP: maps.google.co... The ride will officially end at 79 and S22 (San Filipe Rd) on the way back from Borrego as there are many routes home from that point depending on where home is for you. I will be taking 79 north toward Temecula and doing 371, Wilson Valley, Sage and East Benton for those who may live out that way. See terms of service 6,6.1,6.2 Last time we did this ride there were about 92 attendees so it may be a very large group. Hope you can make it.
