I hope Troy Corser and Ruben Xaus develop this bike quickly to be an instant WSBK contender. If BMW can do well in F1, they can mirror their performance and also do well in WSBK in 2009.
They wont be alone in the development of a new bike though.
Suzuki has an all-new platform they are currently developing with Max Neurkirchner and Yukio Kagayama; Yamaha with an all-new R1 are hard at development with Ben Spies and Tom Sykes; Aprillia with Biaggi and Nakano on the all-new RSV4.
Established manufacturers Kawasaki, Honda and Ducati and currently updating their existing machinery.
2009 and 2010 will be very exciting for WSBK. Bring on KTM!!!

BMW Motorrad have published their first official images in race livery of the fantastic S1000RR, one of the major points of interest in this year’s SBK world championship. After decades of absence the German manufacturer is once again present in a global bike racing series and it has chosen for its return the FIM Superbike World Championship, where they will be up against Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda, reigning champions Ducati and Aprilia who are back again after a break of seven seasons. “This great adventure began not so long ago but now we are about to take part in our very first World Superbike Championship race and it is an exciting moment for us all” declared Berthold Hauser, Director BMW Motorrad Motorsport. “I firmly believe we have two great riders - Troy Corser and Ruben Xaus - and a very committed and enthusiastic team. Troy is the most experienced rider in WSBK and brings a lot of knowledge and information to the team.” “Although Ruben is not as experienced as Troy, he has so much enthusiasm for this project and I feel that he and Troy are a perfect combination. I am very pleased with the amount of progress we have all made in the past few months and now, like the whole team, I am really looking forward to this great challenge”.
